A Historic Event, SCOOP’s 2021 Contemporary Art Auction

We have one word to describe this year’s Art Auction, and that’s EPIC! This April, SCOOP held a 4 day online Contemporary Art Auction, featuring 420 artworks from an incredible array of Ireland’s finest Artists. With a HUGE thank you to all artists, bidders, colleagues, volunteers and supporters, SCOOP was able to make history… Not only raising the most amount of funds we ever have, but also being the largest online Charity Art Auction in Irish history! 

 

€230,000 Raised To Support Young Displaced People in Iraq & Refugees in Ireland

This year’s Art Auction raised an incredible total of €230,000! Funds raised from this year’s auction will support the development and delivery of SCOOP Ed to young refugees living in Direct Provision Centres in Ireland and Internally Displaced People living in camps in Iraqi Kurdistan. SCOOP Ed provides educational programmes focused around Art, IT, Design, and Music to support their educational, creative and psycho-social development. We recently launched our Music Production Programme which is currently active in 4 Direct Provision Centres, in partnership with Createsound and Ableton.

Furthermore, funds raised from this year’s auction will also be used to continue our efforts to support our partners in Iraq, Join Help For Kurdistan (JHK), in delivering psycho-social support to survivors of Islamic State violence. A volunteer-run NGO, JHK are dedicated to helping victims of disaster, war, persecution and genocide in the Kurdistan Region. 

Supporting Ireland’s Artists

As Covid-19 has continued to inflict havoc on all walks of life, we divided the final hammer price 50/50 with the artists. This enabled us to support 100’s of artists during these difficult times, all while raising the funds we need to continue our work.

This year we saw donated artworks from Aches, Kevin Sharkey, Emmalene Blake aka ESTR, Maser, Gerard Byrne, Helen Steele, Leah Hewson, Ciana Fitzgerald, Lola Donoghue, Kathrina Rupit, DUDA, Morgan, Threadstories, Signs of Power, Jim Fitzpatrick, Chris Haughton, ADW, Gavin Matador, Claire Prouvost, Derick Smyth, Domino Whisker, Gráinne Nagle, Guggi, James Kirwan, Shane Berkery, Mark Baker, Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova, Oona Doherty, Eoin McCormack, Niall Leavy, Michael Mulcahy + 100s MORE!

Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in & bid, to all of the incredible artists, to all those working behind the scenes, and to those who have supported us across social media and beyond. This event has been the best in SCOOP’s 11 year history! The interest in this year’s Art Auction has been mind boggling, and the support and generosity continues to blow us away. We wouldn’t be able to do this without each and every one of you.
