Producer, Artist & Songwriter: Introducing Blaq Appollo

A Hip Hop artist who lived in Direct Provision in Galway, Mark Sebz aka Blaq Appollo is a talented and self-trained artist, songwriter and producer who often raps about his life living in Direct Provision in Ireland. 

A little while back, SCOOP gave a high spec Macbook Pro to Mark which enabled him to quickly produce quality music videos himself, something that previously was a drawn out process. The opportunity to produce his own videos on his own laptop is absolutely invaluable. This allows him to channel his artistry and create great promo material to break into the music community in Ireland! Alongside Create Ireland and A4 Sounds who helped him shoot his epic music videos, Blaq Appollo also featured SCOOP in the end credits in one of his music videos as a thank you. We are so happy to see Blaq Appollo expressing his creativity, sharing his talent and telling his story. The Power of Music is Truly Tremendous

Moreover, Blaq Apollo has also helped get other young people residing in Direct Provision Centres to get on board with SCOOP’s Music Production Programme (as part of SCOOP Ed), in partnership with CreateSound and Ableton. Our programme teaches young people living in Direct Provision Centres music production skills, allowing them to explore the technical and creative aspects of music production through practical learning. Nonetheless, we would like to give a massive shoutout to Gavin from CreateSound. Gavin runs the Music Production Programmes in DP Centres (online & on-site) in Clondalkin and Galway.
