Let’s Do Some Good: ‘Gift Back’ your Christmas party funds this year & Support Children Out of Poverty
09/12/20
What is ‘Gift Back’?
Gift Back is an initiative created by Marketing Network Group, enabling Irish businesses to make a donation to a charity that would originally have been allocated to their Christmas party fund. Now more than ever people are in need of key services provided by Irish charities. ‘Gift Back’ could make this Christmas easier for those in vulnerable and difficult circumstances, ensuring that the services and support are still just as available as they would usually be before the pandemic.
Why ‘Gift Back’ to SCOOP?
At SCOOP we believe in supporting and educating the next generation, especially young people at home and abroad who are suffering through absolutely no fault of their own.
‘Gift Back’ would allow SCOOP to continue fighting off poverty, corruption and discrimination at home in Ireland and abroad in the Middle East. Driving development and implementation of our current projects, Gift Back would enable us to continue supporting displaced and impoverished people, as well assisting our response to humanitarian emergencies across the globe.
To get a greater feel of our work and to see what your donation would support, please check out a few of SCOOP’s campaigns below:
StreetSmart (Ireland)
Created to tackle the homelessness crisis in Ireland, StreetSmart works with some of the top restaurants in Ireland to help raise essential funds to support a wide range of projects and organisations tackling the crisis, from housing, addiction, legal representations and food provision projects. This year we ran a project which provides PPE gear to homeless and youth services, nursing homes and Direct Provision centres. So far we have distributed over €20,000 worth of masks, visors, gloves and sanitiser to services that need it most.
SCOOP iT Programme (Iraqi Kurdistan & Ireland)
For young people living in Bajed Kandala Camp, Iraq Kurdistan, and Direct Provision Centres in Ireland, SCOOP iT focuses on teaching young people IT skills, graphic design, sound design and programming to support their academic education.
SCOOP Art Programme (Iraqi Kurdistan & Ireland)
The power of the arts really is unbelievable! In the summer of 2021, SCOOP is returning to Bajed Kandala Camp to facilitate a late summer camp with volunteers in photography, illustration, art, design and mindfulness. Whilst in Ireland, online classes will be taught in Direct Provision Centres in job application skills, graphic design and music production.
Psycho-social Programme (Syria & Iraq)
Formed in partnership with Joint Help For Kurdistan in 2017, this programme supports ex-captives of ISIS and their reintegration into community and society. Through financial support, social outings, facilitating family visits, assisting with medical support and advocating for their rights, the programme has assisted dozens of ex-captives back into the Yazidi community and will continue to do so as more victims of IS brutality are liberated from Syria.
Generation Change (Ireland)
A fundraising and networking initiative harnessing the energy, drive and innovative spirit of undergrads in Ireland. Setting students the challenge to raise funds in order to support SCOOP and our wide range of charitable projects, Generation Change also offers practical personal development and career progression support through internships and mentoring programmes.
